Bespoke Tailoring
At Cad & The Dandy, we are Bespoke Tailors through and through. All our garments retain the intricacies of traditional English handwork blended with a sleek fusion of modern style, slimmer shoulder padding and a more pronounced waist, creating a look that is both contemporary and unique to the house. At Cad & The Dandy, we look to push Savile Row forward, whilst maintaining the quality and craftsmanship that built it.
Savile Row
At Cad & The Dandy, bespoke tailoring is at the heart of everything we do and have stood for since our founding in 2008. Although we are a few hundred years younger than some of our esteemed neighbours, it allows us to bring a new, fresher approach to our ethos.
We firmly believe in the fundamentals of how a bespoke suit should be made but also that times, fashions and tastes change. We take huge pride in making suits that aren’t defined to a “one size fits all” approach to tailoring. We believe in continually moving forward and continually improving our offering, whether that be in discovering new innovative cloth mills or developing new product lines as well as providing a fresher, more approachable service.
Savile Row is the beating heart of our business and the street that was made globally renowned by its skilled inhabitants and it’s that knowledge that we carry over to our other shops and trunkshows around the world.
Our House Cut
Our House Cut is expressed by a nipped in waist, offering a high degree of shape without compromising comfort, but delivering a more refined fit than the traditional British silhouette.
Our shoulders are cut softer, with less padding offering a more modern aesthetic with a nod to our Italian counterparts. A lighter canvas gives the wearer a less demanding garment that makes you feel like you are wearing the suit and not the other way around.
Our trousers favour a higher rise, elongating the leg and flattering the body. We avoid passing trends and heated discussions on length and width and instead focus on creating an elegant, form fitting profile to best flatter the body.
Made by Hand
Most of the elements of making a suit are best achieved by hand work, not least as it allows our tailors to display their skill and the care they put into each garment but it also ensures that each garment is truly made to a three dimensional shape.
Hand canvassing and padding rather than fusing a suit, allows the shape to come to life, creating a garment that follows the contours of the body, adding shape and structure where needed.
Whilst adding structure, the canvas also creates a more breathable garment, less likely to be damaged by the rigours of dry-cleaning or pressing and enables the garment to last longer.
The small details of hand made buttonholes show you the wearer but also anyone else in know that your suit has been hand made by craftsmen. Each one of our suits is completed by a ‘finisher’ whose hand skills are on display for all to see.
